Every one of us is designed to hear the voice of God. The presence of the Holy Spirit is a gift for every believer, even in the midst of our struggles, our addictions and all the other things we don’t want to talk about. We don’t need to have it all together in order to gain access to the things of the Lord.
Speak the Truth in Love
I had a dream that I was speaking to people and encouraging them, and what was coming out of my mouth was straight from the Lord. This is exactly how God operates. Most of the time when He speaks, it is through the Holy Spirit inside of you, or it is the Holy Spirit speaking through someone else.
We shouldn’t shy away from the supernatural, including the gift of prophecy, because people need to hear the Lord. It’s important, though, that we speak from a heart of humility and love. You don’t need to tell people what’s wrong with them; they already know. God won’t bring up something from the past that He has already forgiven.
If the truth is not spoken in love, then it’s a lie.
Life in a Spiritual Realm
Whether you accept it or not, everybody in the world is influenced by the unseen realm. You’re either led or you’re driven. There is no middle ground. Everybody is affiliated with light or darkness; they just might not know it. The spiritual realm influences everything from your daily activities to your mood and your family. There are lots of voices vying for our attention, but God says “My sheep hear My voice” (John 10:27). We are all eternal, spiritual beings having short-term human experiences here on earth.
Led by the Spirit
Sometimes being led by the Holy Spirit means doing something you don’t really want to do. In these instances, we have to remember that “in all things, God works for the good of those who love him” (Romans 8:28). Being led by the Spirit is coming to a place where you say “Not my will, but your will be done, Lord.” It’s a big deal to hand your will over to someone else, so it may as well be the One who loves you and has a plan for you that’s greater than anything you could ask or imagine.
Weapons of Warfare
The enemy has a mission statement: to steal, kill and destroy. If he is the author of your plans, you can be sure things aren’t going to turn out well. We are in a spiritual war, and the last place you want to be is in a war without weapons. You can’t fight what you can’t see, and if you are not equipped with the Holy Spirit’s power and wisdom, you won’t be able to protect yourself or your family.
God doesn’t just want to clean you up; he wants to get the hooks out of you so you can be free to fulfill his plans and purposes. Be led by truth and love today. It’s just a good decision.
