“God has been so good to me. I don’t like talking about me, but I love to talk about Him. He’s never abandoned me.”

At 7 Springs Ministries, stories of redemption are not just words—they are living proof of God’s relentless love. Rocky’s testimony is one of those stories.

A Foundation of Love

Rocky was raised by parents who loved him deeply. His mother kept him in church, planting seeds of faith that would one day save his life. His father passed down strong values and a steady example of hard work and integrity.

Looking back, Rocky can see God’s hand even in those early years. Though life would eventually take him down a difficult road, the foundation had already been laid.

A Wrong Turn

Like many stories of addiction, Rocky’s began with what seemed like a small decision. One day, riding around with a high school friend, he ventured to the wrong side of town. He gave a ride to someone who turned out to be a local drug dealer. What started as a casual association slowly became a two-year connection.

For a long time, he resisted. Then one night, he didn’t.

At first, it felt harmless—fun even. Rocky describes those early days as bright and exhilarating, like a party filled with lights, music and laughter.

But addiction is deceptive.

“It was like I had a rave or something … everybody was smiling and laughing … the lights were flashing and the DJ was playing the music. And then it’s like I blinked my eyes one day, and I’m in complete darkness. And there’s nobody there. It’s just me in this dark room.”

What began in light ended in isolation. The laughter faded, the crowd disappeared and the darkness closed in.

The God Who Stays

Even in his lowest moments, Rocky could not outrun the presence of God. He reflects on the truth of Psalm 139—that there is nowhere we can go where God is not already there.

Time and again, Rocky wrestled with addiction. Time and again, he found himself caught between failure and grace. He recalls a moment when someone challenged him, saying, “You can’t tell me that Jesus said it was okay for you to put a needle in your arm.”

Rocky’s response revealed a truth that carried him through: Jesus’ love was not permission to sin—it was the very power that would rescue him.

He believed that Christ loved him despite his failures, and that love would be the thing to pull him out. And it did. Over and over again.

From Struggle to Surrender

Today, Rocky stands in a different place. Not because the journey was easy, and not because he was strong enough on his own—but because God proved faithful.

“I believe I’m finally at a place in my life where I don’t want to put myself or Jesus through that anymore. All I want to do is glorify Him. God has been so, so good to me.”

Through every hill and every valley, Rocky says there has been one constant: God never abandoned him.

A Word for Those Still Reaching

Rocky’s testimony is more than a story of deliverance—it’s an invitation.

“Just keep reaching, keep reaching, keep knocking. He is right there. He’s in the midst of the pain. He is the light. Just keep stretching forth your hand, and He will pull you out.”

At 7 Springs Ministries, we believe the same God who met Rocky in his darkest room is still meeting people today. No matter how far someone feels they’ve fallen, the presence of God reaches deeper still.
